This week is all about the season finale! There’ll be a full on review of Season 9 next week.
There’s also Torchwood audio news, press info and news on Long Island Who.
With regard to last week, Peter Capaldi was amazing in Heaven Sent. His powerhouse performance was not only compelling television, it was an intensely compact episode of Doctor Who that pulled out all of the stops.
I really liked how cinematic it felt. In addition to the minimalist camera shots of the castle, I also loved the wonderful score that framed the action onscreen. Musically it was one of the program’s watershed moments in composition. I also loved its subtle nods to the Radiophonic Workshop.
It felt like a Hammer Horror film that utilized everything that is great about the classic series a s blueprint.
It also was highly effective in feeding off of the emotions of the viewer, which worked to propel the storyline in a uniquely fresh way.
The new, ticked off Doctor is pretty great.
It was an episode unlike any previously and it, for the most part, really clicked. Moving forward my biggest fear is that part two will be a jumbled, convoluted mess. Still, I haven’t looked forward to a finale for the show for a while now. I only hope it is not the stew of chaos that we got last year.
HELL BENT
Well it looks like it’s a jam-packed adventure to wind down the season. The Doctor is back on Gallifrey, he’s pretty mad, Ashildr is at it again and to make matters worse the Time Lords are back in a big way!
We are also (hopefully) getting to the bottom of all this hybrid business.
The BBC has released images from the season finale.
Here is an introduction to Episode 11 and a new clip from the BBC.
This episode also ties in with Day of The Doctor.
It is the first new series episode to be mostly set on Gallifrey.
We will get some more tidbits of the Doctor’s backstory, but not the complete story.
The Time War is referred to.

I didn’t know that I’d be back again but I’m glad I am because after the end of the previous episode that I’m in, it was nice to have something that would round off my character nicely.
THE HUSBANDS OF RIVER SONG
The BBC has announced the title of the 2015 Christmas special as The Husbands of River Song.

The BBC released promo photos from the special.
The Doctor gets a new sonic screwdriver in this story. It’s final moments also will set up some plot lines for Series 10.
Speaking at Chicago TARDIS, Alex Kingston referred to the episode as a ‘Classic Hollywood screwball comedy like spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn.’
During one of her panels, Kingston also talked about her wire work in the episode, how her costumes are developed and how Matt Smith was chuffed when he found out that she was making an episode with another Doctor.
